Being the daughter of two painters, Isobel Stemp was brought up with a brush in her hand. Her mother taught her about colour and has been a huge source of encouragement and inspiration. She studied Art at Anglia Ruskin University, completing the Foundation course and then went down the academic route reading Theology and Religious studies at Leeds University. Later Isobel returned to painting, drawing on all influences to date. Isobel lives in Cambridge and paints with gouache and acrylic, in her attic studio. She paints outdoors, weather permitting, with flowers, buildings and landscape her main interests. Within these subjects infinite possibilities seem to unravel as the rhythm of life is sensed through them. Colour is another big source of inspiration with a lot of her paintings colour lead. She finds vibrant colour the most direct form of communication and uses it to express mood, create atmosphere and likes to celebrate with it sharing the things she finds beautiful through it.
